I used to play rummy when I was a kid and then on and off when I was in college. But then stopped playing. Recently I have again started playing online rummy, but I loose many times… can any one give me tips to play rummy online? Also, what are good sites to play it…

Top 5 Tips to play rummy online:

Tip 1 – Making pure sequences
1st focus on making 2 sequences at-least one of which is pure, so that you don’t get sum of points of all cards in your hand. 2nd You can use a joker to make the 2nd sequence.

Tip 2 – You can use 3 or more cards in a Sequence
You can make a pure sequence with 3 or more cards. So just in case you got more cards of the same suit, you can make a sequence with 3 or more cards.

Tip 3 – Discarding high point cards
Sometimes discarding high point cards like Ace, King, Queen, Jack may help. Let’s say you have made the 2 sequences and you are holding high point cards and the opponent declares, you will get the sum of those high point cards. Instead keeping low point cards in hand may be helpful.

Tip 4 – Using Jokers Wisely
If you get a joker make sure you use it wisely. 1st see if you have your 2 sequences ready and in-case you have pure sequence ready, you can use a joker to complete the 2nd sequence.

2nd see if you have a high point cards (set or sequence) complete that set or sequence with the jokers.

Tip 5 – Paying attention to opponent’s Cards
You may want to pay attention to the cards your opponent picks / drops from the open deck or hand. You may want to use this information to hold on to some cards which you think your opponent might need.

In Rummy, is the meld of all players added to their score, or is it just the winner that gets the value of his meld? I know the cards in the hands of the looser goes to the winners score. While playing 500 Rummy, if there are for example 3 jacks in the discard pile, can you pick up all of them and use them without having another jack in your hand?

If the cards you pick from the discard form their own meld, you may play them as is. Needing a matching card in your hand is a rule in Go Fish but not rummy.
